:: Thursday, March 28, 2002 ::

It's Thursday. I have no school tomorrow. But yet with all this free time I haven't been able to do anything with it. I'M SO BORED!!!! No one's up for anything at this hour.. poo...

Something strange happened. I bought 2 pairs of shoes.

Haha. I rarely buy shoes. Yet alone, 2 at a time. Hey... cheap! Joanne doesn't believe I got clogs. I got clogs. What are clogs? They're dutch I believe. But they're really comfortable, like slip on shoes that you can wear outside. You know somethin else weird? Karyn chopped off all her hair. Well not all of her hair but a lot of it. Wow... hahaha. I still have to see it.

BORED. Okay. I'm gonna analyze Cal.

Name: Calvin Leung
Age: 20
Program: Health Science
Nicknames: Cal. Yellow Monkey.
Car: Green Volvo. I think. All I know is that he never drives cuz he always plans to drink!
Admirables: This guy was my roommate for last year. I miss him so much. One day when I was sick and all nasty, he came into my room with freshly made genuine vegetable soup and cinammon toast. I never had cinammon toast. Now I have cinammon toast whenever I buy bread. He even brought it in on a tray. That was the nicest thing someone has ever done for me.
Funnies: Cal loves to rave. Where ever he goes, he lights up a party. But that's not funny. It's funny when he stops where he walks and yells out the full name of the person he's trying to get the attention of. Yay. He also sticks his head up (out of the dirt) like an ostrich when the danger is gone.

Joanne feasting on her lucious chocolate.
Click for formal pictures... nice in B&W, under "FORMAL".
(doesn't this picture look so classy?)

oh yeah... the full size pictures (but w/o thumbnails) are here.

Finally finished scanning all 24 pictures... phew... scanning sucks. Digital camera would be so much nicer... but hey... gotta be thankful! Formal was really fun, despite a bunch of people sitting down for most of the time. But... there were lots of "Awwwwwwws" for the couples, and I must admit, they're really cute. It was definitely interesting, putting on a tux in 5 minutes, right after cleaning up a pizza party for youth group at my place. On the way to the banquet hall, there's this bridge, that's really freaky. It's wooden, clunky, and only lets one car through in one direction at each time. There's no traffic light, you just have to kinda guess if someone's coming around the corner. Reminded me so much of Albert Wu and his Old Finch stories. Brrrr... gives me the chills... as I drove carefully across this bridge, there was a freaky reminder of the bridge at Old Finch... and as I was freaking out... this huge rumble starts rumbling underneath my car and as I looked down, the bridge started to glow... then I realized this train was coming right under me and I drove as fast as I could.. there was even this abandoned barn off to the left of the road... just like Old Finch.

Formal was cool. That picture we took below was awesome... originally the photographer said we could fit only 12 people max but there's so much more room for the people that weren't in the picture! Oh... and to top things off, McD's at 2:30am? Yummmm.... $1.69 mcChickens and $2 nuggets? can't go wrong!!! But you can if you eat them again 9 hours later... ughhhhhh...

Pledge for Integrity Day 4:
Hmmm The Lord blesses when we are truthful in heart. The Lord was there tonight at ACF. I've felt many times, over and over again, that ACF was falling apart, that people were growing more distant by the moment, and our focus was all off. But when people come in truth and with broken hearts, willing to be healed, the Lord moves, and He moves with power. That's what happened tonight. An ordinary night at fellowship, but extraordinary workings of the spirit. This is the way things ought to be. Devoted in prayer primarily to our Lord, and then ministering to those around us.
God broke people tonight in truth. This is part of the search for integrity: to discover that the Holy Spirit becomes everything that you are, thus being genuine means to have the Holy Spirit shine and totally overpower you at all times.

Learned a very odd thing tonight. Praying in tongues... having no idea what you're saying, but letting the Holy Spirit speak and having your own soul edified in the process. That was such a weird concept... how the Holy Spirit would want to talk to God. Hmmm maybe he's lonely inside of me... haha. But that's what God intends, tongues or no tongues: for our own desires to totally melt away, and have the Holy Spirit chatter to himself. Weird.

Pledge for Integrity Day 3:
I found myself laughing aimlessly in my laboratory today, with some weird strangers that I've been attending class with all this semester. Yoda impressions, sub surface conversations about jazz bands and trombones, sports that I've never really played, bands that I've never really heard... sometimes I find it so hard to discover what to say in times like that. Sometimes I wanna say... you know how much you care about SKA and playing in a band? Well I feel the same way with Jesus Christ... how I play guitar because of him, how I am the person I am today because of him. Instead I feel so bored, unamused by their jokes, and afraid to enter their conversations. But honestly, that's all I feel like talking about, because nothing else matters. That's integrity. Being able to say the things that are true to your heart, and when Jesus is your first love, you better be talking about him all the time. I failed miserably today... am I ashamed of the gospel? Hmmm...maybe just a bit foolish...

CLICK ME.

FINALLY TC Team Aaron pics have been scanned and put on the net. Oh yeah... make sure you click Full Image to see the good quality of the picture. Otherwise, it'll look nasty. In case you guys forgot, please keep posting on the Aaron message board. Let's not lose touch so quickly guys! The link is http://pub7.ezboard.com/bteamaaron98463 . Don't forget this!!!!

Wow... so thankful for our men's cell group. Tonight the Lord really worked in the lives of all of us. Praise the Lord for a bunch of men who just wanna be used by Christ. We're doing a book called Bondage Breaker, and honestly I'd have to say that tonight, everything we have learned and shared up to this point seemed to reach the point of the whole study. Breaking free from the bondage of sin... what a concept.

I remember why I don't play basketball anymore. It's because I have no skill. 25 minutes of simple play and I was left in a puddle of my own sweat. Oh yeah... and you know that stuff that forms on your lips? That too... nasty.

Will came to Western AGAIN! I see this guy more at Western than I've ever seen him in Toronto. Man... that's dedication for you. Oh and congrats to Carol and Wendy... they're going to the finals for the Business 257 case competition! Ahhh such fond memories... all nighters, Fullin Coulinis, styling biz clothes, etc... good luck! Their business is quite interesting. I think it's called Kanari... it's a asian makeup line that's much cheaper than Shisedo and would be available everywhere. Sounds like Canary, but it's japanese for something.... something exotic I think.

Pledge for Integrity day 2... looked into what possibly were my reasons for going into Dentistry... what are they? Are they selfish? Are they pure? What on earth would I say at my interviews? How genuine could I be? How integral? would my answers be? Hmmm still searching...

"Why do you have the word Integrity written on your hand?" asked my friend as I joined them for lunch.

"I dunno," I replied. "I really need to remind myself all the time."

"That's pretty silly! Maybe homework pages or assignment dates, but having to remind yourself about integrity? What... are you going to steal something and look at your hand and stop right there?"

- a conversation just 5 minutes ago.

I remember when I came to university that I would pledge for integrity. Ya know, walk to the talk, mean what I say... I had that word written on my bible on one of the first pages. I remember Victor Fung having the acronyms of a sermon on integrity on the display of his cell phone. I remember that word. I remember how much I desired to keep that, to maintain that.

Slowly it crept up to me. The reality of it all. After being a counsellor at TC, at all times maintaining the integrity of being a Christian and also a person to give spiritual support, sitting through a conference themed on GETTING REAL, and returning once again to campus for CHRIST AWARENESS WEEK, and being amongst the people who I've been with the past 3 years, I looked into this matter once again.

And I realized that I had fallen far from that initial pledge. Did I really genuinely care for people? Was everything done out of selfish ambition? Did I? Who was I in all of that? Where was Christ in all of that? When the Holy Spirit convicts you of what you've done, he does it in such gigantic ways. Integrity. I need to write it on my hand because it's something I forget so often, something I forget and often plagues me.

Will you make a pledge for integrity with me?

FASHION SHOW IS FINALLY OVER!!!

Woah. What a rough two days. I'll spare you the details but 3 oclock Big Extras DON'T STAY DOWN in your stomach. In fact they give you stomach poisoning. I've only tried those things twice in my life, and everytime it's a disaster. Well I haven't had any rest in 36 hours, give or take the times I passed out after hurling my late night snack. But everyone's in London now and I'm so exhausted that I can't chill with them. How horrible. Hopefully the body will rejuvinate tmrw morning.

Sorry Aaronites! I haven't been keepin in touch because of this fashion show. Now it's over. Yay. I'll post those TC pics soon enough after when these pictures get developed.

AHHHHH rest. REST REST. Sounds so good. Sounds so appropriate. ZZZZzzzzzz

TC TC TC TC TC TC!!!! IT's already over!!! no!!!! Got back to London safely though... for all those Aaronites out there, AARON RULES!!!! A-A-RON- AAAAAIIIIGGGHHHTTTTT!!!!! This is gonna be a short post cuz it's 2:13am and I have school tmrw!!!

Top Ten Memorable Moments of Team Aaron
10. Watching Calvin (lil tiny Calvin) finish off 2 boxes of China food
9. Seeing Gordon and Aileen simulate celebraties as they made their way out of TC, signing every book shoved in their way in a matter of minutes (we missed you!!!)
8. The infamous short lived rivalry between Aaron and Sarah in the foyer... SARAH ... AARON!!! SARAH!!!! AARON!!!! (all whiny)
7. Watching Jon (captain) eat that wonderful Chicken Leg on plain rice with plain soya sauce. That shows a humble captain is willing to take the worst so that the rest of his teammates can have more yummy yummies!
6. "Little Boy..." "Is my Love only worth a dollar to you???" - HEIDI
5. Watching lil Calvin and Big Thug Kevin battle as number 13 in Grab the Bacon
4. Discovering Golda's need for a cure from her laughing disorder... and how we all realized as a team together.
3. XIAO!!! xiao!!! XIAO!!!!!
2. Who could ever forget the infamous hole, crack, and broken sunday school paper. Aaron is so destructive!!!
1. This one's easy... how we shared the best time we've ever had with the best team we've ever had!!!

Wow, I guess I couldn't say what I truly wanted to say rushing in your handbooks tonight. But What I really wanted to say was that it was more than an honour to be on the same team as you guys. This was my first time counselling and I definitely had my doubts. But the Lord is so faithful and he is so true to His promises! All the funny things we shared, the laughter (sometimes excessive), the sharing (THE BAG), the bible studies, the testimonies, oh wow I'm so amazed how it went all by in a flash. By far this has been the most rewarding TC by far. Not only did I get the chance to share with you, the Lord taught me so much about leadership (you go Heidi!) and humility (thanks to Jon and Sarah, our irreplacable captains)! Keep the faith, all of you. Don't let the discouragement of the Devil lure you away! Keep reading! Keep readin the bible. It's better than chocolate. Keep in touch with one another, hold each other accountable, and share your joys and struggles with one another. Don't let Aaron be just another team we remember, but a bond that has just begun between all of us! God bless you and I look forward to hearing from you!!!

TC BEGINS IN 10 hours!!! I'm so excited. Wow, prepping with my team today made me feel like a teenager again. TC should really ask university students to help out and counsel... we'd fill in that gap that's there between the teens and the older counselors. Besides, I have so much to learn myself from my co-counselor! She's so cool, her name's Heidi and she's the youth pastor at Bridletrail Baptist Church... hmmmm Youth Pastor.... cool... but wow it's tmrw! Our team name is AARON. We have butt aprons with A's on them. We have a CHRIST-ie AARONROOT COOKIE (based on the Christie's Arrowroot Baby cookies) as our mascot. Yay! I'll fill you in on our progress tmrw night!!! !Yay. won't be able to sleep!

After being inspired by Carol Chan, I decided to do one of these surveys, yet again. Good thing about it is it's stored forever in my blog. Yay. Oh yeah. Check out her entry about her oven incident (her link is to the left). I must say it was a 9/10 on my laugh-o-meter.

Full Name: Jesse Seejin Wong. You know what I noticed in Mandarin the other day? Huang Se (which means yellow colour, and the first two characters of my chinese name) also a pornographic term in Hong Kong films. Gross. Not only am I a "poo pot" but a "porno pot".
Nicknames: Jess
Hometown: Markham, ON. Did you know that Markham is the richest town in all of Canada?
Croutons or Bacon Bits: How could you ever have one without the other? It's like Bert and Ernie, Siskel and Ebert, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.... :P (oh btw, on the American channel, Bert dies of Cancer, in case you didn't know.)
Favorite Salad Dressing: Anything creamy. Mmmmm big mac sauce yummy
Have you ever gone skinny dipping? I asked someone that before and they replied, "Never. I'll never have the chance cuz I'll always be fat."
Have you ever been convicted of a crime?: For those of you who know me for my pranks, I should have been by now... sent 3 people to the hospital... and counting.
One pillow or two?: One. It's Flat. It stays cool. It smells funky but I like it.
Pets: My Chinchillla: Dong Gu!!! If you haven't met my pet, go look at my archive written sometime in February. Then maybe you'll be able to win at Jeporady in the category: Rodents.
Favorite Song at The Moment: Think of Me, by Mark Shultz
Hobbies: KENDO!!!! KENDO!!!! KENDO!!! Just spent the morning trying to teach Karyn Pong how to do manual photography. I THINK I still like photography now...
Dream Car: Sometimes I think it's foolish to have a dream car. YOU'LL NEVER GET IT!!! So that's why I like "reality cars." Those cars are ones that are actually feasibly affordable. MAZDA PROTEGE 5 , probably wanna go yellow or deep blue.
Words or Phrases you overuse: I realize I speak like people around me.
"Nice...." (Joe Chan)
"NO WAY!!!" (Fun City)
"Did you know..." (Steve Wong)
"Go git it!" (Jet Li a la Brian Kung)
Toothpaste: Oh Colgate any day over Crest. Yummy regular Tartar control mint Colgate. It's only 99 cents. Who needs to whiten their teeth? (Man... and I'm gonna be a dentist too)
Favorite Food: Pad Thai. Yummy mildly made Pad Thai. With crushed cashews, gigantic tiger shrimp, loads of chicken... hhhhuuuuuhhhhhhh
Online Crush: I dunno, I was talking one time to this person, named... Kristin Kreuk was it? hahahaha.
Current Boyfriend/Girlfriend: It's been 2 years, 6 months, 5 days, and still going. Have you met my wonderful Lo Poh? She has nice features. (Dreadnaught, 6 string, Fisherman Active Pickup, Full Cedar Hardtop)
Piercing or tattoos?: Ahhhh I have a stud in my left ear... I've always wanted to switch to a cross but it keeps infecting... God you trying to tell me somethin?

Favorite Ice Cream: If possible, Cookies and Mint Creme... mmmmmm
Favorite Soft Drink: Schweppe's Ginger Ale. Looks like beer. Tastes like heaven.
What's your bed time: What's a bed?
Adidas, Nike, or Reebok: Have you heard of Minado? They're from Guandong. They were 22 dollars.
Favorite Perfume/Cologne: Perfume: I remember going to the Bay with Victoria and smelling one of the CK series of perfumes. It wasn't escape, it wasn't obsession, it was something I had never heard of. It was yummy... smelled like ... fruits... does anyone know the name?
Cologne: Joop... someone told me it smells Asian.
Favorite Website: http://www.pdabuzz.com : lots of reviews and discussions about PDAs.
Least Favorite Subject in School: My Microbiology course. I feel so dumb compared to all the geeks who've had all those summer experiences in the labs.
Favorite Sport to Watch: Golf.... hey there's this car commercial with a golfer, and his name on the screen is J.Wong....
Most humiliating moment: NOT TELLING YOU
Loudest person you know: I'd have to agree with Carol. Joanne Tse.
Craziest person you know: Ditto with Carol. Dianne. (she pretends she has retainers on and starts talking and drooling and spitting... I was really scared of her for a while)
Favorite Holiday: Canada Day. Fireworks... chillaxin... no expected presents to be forced to give...
Favorite number: 14
Favorite color: Majency. never heard of it? That's because you can't see Ultraviolet rays and I can.
Why are you here on earth?: Simple. To have that relationship with the wonderful Father God in the midst of all the corruption and crap that goes on in this imperfect world, and to be able to share that hope and love with anyone I come across.

My Cell Phone is gone. I lost it. Man... everytime I call it the answering machine picks up and all I hear is Schad's voice laughing from the recording we made 2 years ago. Man. This sucks. Well I guess I'll see if I really need a phone after all, or if I just need one for convenience sake.

For once I don't have any insight on anything. wait... I do... u guys will love this.

Introducing CHOCO-QUATTRO!!!
This was our signature van food on our ski trip. As you can see from the digram, the makers spent their sweet time in producing a technical drawing of the 4 layers of chocolate and various such stuff. Yum yum yum. Actually I didn't like it much until Christina started stealing them away. It's interesting. Think eating an oreo is special? I think there are like 16 permutations in how you can eat this puppy. Personally I like to eat it in this order.

1. Cookie Made with italian chocolate (lifesaver)
2. Vanilla Creme
3. Partially finish Cookie Made with Italian Chocolate, leaving a disc the same circumfrence as the Chocolatey centre
4. Chocolatey centre + partially finished cookie combination.

Yum. It's like eating a chocolate bar, but it's a cookie. I definitely recommend it. Problem is... it's not quite the typical cookie to find on a shelf. Good luck!!!

SKIING SKIING SKIING!!!!!
Wow... this week was mondo fun! On the left is Rosey, all stuffed up in a van, and on the right is me and Cheryl... attempting to catch some jetstreams at the Flying J gas station. I actually have no pictures of us skiing or pictures from the resort cuz well my digi cam doesn't have a flash, and didn't think the conditions would be too ideal for taking pics. Well I finally discovered what it means to go above the clouds in a gondola. U don't go OVER the clouds, you just go over some high mist. That's pretty cool too. Conditions for skiing weren't ideal. The first day it rained the night before and it was like 6 degrees. The snow was all slush and it pretty much made skiing really tiring and exhausting. At one moment in the day I think the temperature rose to like 13 degrees, and just so happened that we were trying to walk up a really bad mogul run, with everyone in ski lifts laughing at us while we were pretty much stripping down everything we were wearing.

On the second day, the temperature dropped and everything became ice. Great. REALLY FAST. My knees were destroyed after the first day. I tried getting a refund on my rentals and ski lift but they wanted a doctors note! Grrrr.... they didn't believe me. So I decided I'd risk the chance of damaging my knees for life by going once again on the hill. Good decision. IT was a BLAST.

Pictures will follow from the rest of the ski trip. We had some pretty funny memories, like how Cheryl and I drove around for about 50 minutes to pick up Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom... odd... I didn't remember it being THAT bad. Oh Oh Oh... and FUN CITY! There's a review below.

Now time for some insight. I just received in the mail my letter for my dentistry interview for U of T. Initially I was happy that I actually have this oppourtunity, but immediately I was shocked with the decision I was soon to make. 3 years at Western didn't seem enough. I mean, what about the youths and the fellowship we started? What about all the awesome people here I would have to say goodbye to so suddenly? What about... what about... I had a long conversation with my mom and dad. My dad is a storehouse of wisdom. Other than purely emotional ties and reasons, I could be limiting God's plan for me by thinking he couldn't provide away from Western. I've become so attached here, so comfortable, so lazy too. I guess sticking around at Western would be hard too, cuz for four more years I'd watch the people I've grown to love slowly leave and start off their working lives. This is gonna be one HARD decision. Worst part about it is that I haven't even gotten accepted... we'll see how things go.

Now here's my review of the week. FUN CITY!

Name: Fun City Game
Made by: Parker Brothers
Ages: 8 to adult
Object: To be the player with the greatest number of FUN CITY points when the clock strikes 5:00pm
Number of players: 2 to 4
Approximate Playing Time: 60 minutes
Approximate Shelf Life: According to Brian's estimation, 3 months.
Review:
This game is wacky. I remember playing this game with my sister when I was younger and loving it because it had this cool clock tower that you'd push after each person's turn and time would "run out". Basically you go around trying to get to certain landmarks on the board to collect points before the points on that landmark expire. There's a shortcut: the bus route. If you land on a bus route you can hop many steps. But before you take the bus, according to the instructions, you must indicate to everyone playing in a loud audible voice "I'M TAKING THE BUS!". This is the funniest part of the game. Wait. Crazy cards. This is where the game goes from funny to outright silly. Everyplayer has 3 crazy cards. They range from adding more to your roll, going directly to another spot on the board, or screwing someone else over. There's even this one card that's called pickpocket, where you actually flip the card in the air, and depending on which way it flips up, you can actually STEAL someone else's property. Hahaha. up to 3 crazy cards can be played in one turn. See that NO WAY card to the right? If someone tries to screw you, you can play that card. NO WAY!!! Brian and I were laughing our heads off. One day we're going to carry those around with us and use them on real people.
Oh one more thing, there's this SLOG. It stands for Someone's Lil Old Grandma. Hahahah.
4/5 stars.
