It's been a while!!! My goodness... Algonquin is so beautiful. This was my first ever Hard Core camping trip. That means, no garbage disposal, no toilets, no showers, no public beaches, no access to cars... just you and the wild. I thought that I would get destroyed out there, me being such a suburban boy... but I guess I was wrong...
We portaged across 3 lakes at Algonquin. What does it mean to portage? It means to carry your canoe across land to get past dams or to get to another body of water. That's Ben, Joe's brother, carrying a canoe on his shoulders.
We all did it. Even the gals! That one of me is beside the a sign telling us that we just finished carrying our canoe 1.6km! Joe Chan actually did the whole thing while Ben and I split the other canoe.
The nature was incredible. I've never seen anything so vivid before in my life. A lot of the shots I took are on my gallery, which actually got totally destroyed while I was gone and I lost everything in it so I'm starting it over again with these wonderful shots.
Here are some inspirations and photos I took during this escape to nature:
The above poem was inspired by the incredible and surreal view of the reflections of the moon on the lake. There were 2 reflections...
This poem was inspired right after I got onto a rock and started screaming on the top of my lungs... eventually I resorted to calling like a loon and the loons of Algonquin called back!
This poem was inspired while I was out by myself in a canoe... I was quite distracted by the black flies...

Joanne had the wonder of singing her favourite song with her cool mitts at Mister Safety Shoes. Children, can you guess what song she's singing?
Jasper and his cool.. ahem... original poses. Wah.
It's been a while since I've posted something. Why? Well... finding it hard to sit down at my computer and write something ever since getting back home. Home (Markham/Toronto) has its share of getting used to after being away for 2 years. It's really heart warming to know that there are special people back at home that never forget who you are and still want to catch up despite a lot of lost communication. I guess I'll write about something more as it comes.
