Balderdash... a great game, and even greater if one plays with a mainlander named Yun Ping.
It was great seeing some friendly familiar faces yesterday. I was treated to a wonderful home cooked meal at Doreen and Cora's townhouse. It's a very interesting feeling walking into someone else's home and seeing odds and ends of your old apartment... such as that wondrous couch that I found on my street in Markham that has served Platt's for 3 years and hopefully someone else for more! It's just sitting in their apartment in the corner... neglected :(
Anyways, we moved onto Balderdash. It was a great game (guess who's the ultimate bluffer???) when Shirley, Theresa, Adrienne, Doreen and I were playing... but it got much better after Yun Ping came in. I wish I could scan in some of his definitions. Oh my... oh my.
Job's going okay so far. I truly started today working as a dental assistant in the dental clinic at Western. Turns out that on the first day we had 2 fire alarms, forcing patients to walk right out of the clinic in the middle of a procedure! That was not delightful for my patient today. Nonetheless, a day goes by and wow... gotta readjust this biological clock to sleeping earlier!
Tonight we found ourselves at Harmony Buffet, and I'm so thirsty from all the MSG. Favourite part of the night... whipping a fortune cookie at the windshield of Dr. A's Civic.

So it was Wednesday the 28th, and after a long exhausting day of a practical and studying for my horrendous exam schedule, I found myself extremely agitated and impatient. Feeling all self absorbed and all, I headed over to Anita's for a meal that she said she'd make for me. Turns out that the dinner got pushed from 6:30 to 7:00 to 7:30... finally I make it there and bam... out pops Steve, Miriam and Corie from meds.
Wow... I didn't know what to do... I almost felt like running for my life... maybe cuz I was going through such a caca time and didn't feel like talking to people... but wow... that sent me into a weird daze. Then comes Brian walking into the kitchen with about 10 other ACFers... all wishing a happy 24th birthday.
It was much needed. Thanks so much to those who make an effort to make one feel important and appreciated. The night went on until an emotional part of the night where I got a chance to sing 24 by Switchfoot (which I'm listening to right now off Cynthia's website) ... which I just learned that the artist wrote that song on his 24th birthday. Turns out to be exactly what was going through my mind that very day...
24 oceans
24 skies
24 failures
and 24 tries.
24 finds me in 24th place
with 24 dropouts at the end of the day.
Life is not what I thought it was-24 hours ago,
Still I'm singin spirit take me up in arms with you.
And I'm not who I thought I was 24 hours ago,
Still I'm singing spirit take me up in arms with you.
Its 24 reasons to admit that I'm wrong.
With all my excuses, still 24 strong
You see I'm not coping out, not coping out, not coping out-
when your raisin the dead in me.
oooo a oo ooo a oo
I am the second man
oooo a oo ooo a oo
I am the second man now
oooo a oo
I am the second man now
and your raising these...
24 voices
With 24 hearts
and all of my symphonies-in 24 parts
But I wanna be today
centered and true
I'm singin spirit take me up in arms with you.
Your rasing the dead in me.
I wanna see miracles
to see the world change
wrestle the angel for more then a name
for more then a feeling
for more then a cause
I'm singin spirit take me up in arms with you. (and your rasing the dead in me)
I've been so blessed to have some incredible people here at Western.
For the last few days it's been study study study, Smallville Smallville Smallville, and Camera camera camera. Turns out I rehashed my father's Pentax Spotmatic (est 1967) SLR camera, popped off the bottom, tried fiddling around with some wires and a battery and voila! Got the once dead light metre working again. Looks like I may go back to film once again... Digital just doesn't cut it anymore!!!
