A look inside my head...
Now that Priscilla has my digital camera, looks like I'll be doing much less picture posting and more thought provoking material instead. Well it's March break, and I'm here in Kingston in my favourite library in the world: Stauffer Library. It's been a busy term and haven't had a chance to post my thoughts down on this blog.
I had an interesting conversation with Cheryl here in Kingston. See, she's on her March break as well (us professional students would otherwise be in malls while all the high schoolers run around). I've come to many realizations that though obvious to me may seem totally far fetched for those who know me. This third year of dentistry has been only a portion of the reason why people may have noticed that I have changed. It's funny that sometimes I don't quite recognize myself either. The person I used to know would always be with people, encouraging others, never spending a single moment alone, loud and rambucious... and quite vocal. The person I am today is nearing more towards the other spectrum: quiet, reserved, alone...
School has been only a portion of this change. Why? Because the responsibility required as a dentist has forced me to take things with a bit more seriousness and maturity. People often forget that I'm not studying much anymore, but actually performing dentistry on patients. Since I am quite new at this, I have to be more on the ball with knowledge and ability, and I find that just dealing with people daily forces me to mature. This has been a reason why I seem to have grown up quite fast and am no longer the 24/7 clown I used to be (it's more like 2/2 clown).
Another thing that people notice is that I am more to myself. A typical day runs from 5:45am in the morning to 10:30pm at night. My early rise and early rest warrant me to be restricted to little time with friends and family. Though I may not be studying as much as before (I barely study an hour a week), the 40 hour week + restricts me to a steady schedule of diet and habit. I no longer have the freedom that I once had to stay up late at night, or do random visitations, or just be spontaneous like I once was.
So I no longer am quite involved in other's lives. How does this make me feel? Well on one hand, quite inadequate, as I was very satisfied with how my life was before. On the other hand, I had prayed for an opportunity for God 3 years ago to "balance" my character. And so He has helped that in my surroundings over these last 3 years. I'm just hoping that some explanation of my recent behaviour and lifestyle may be accepted and understood by friends and family.
I still care about you all and love you dearly.

Pris and I at the Rideau Canal on skates at night. This was a huge difference compared to 2 years ago when the temperature was 13 degrees celcius where we were literally slushing through melting ice. It's really romantic at night, and it's very natural carrying a good conversation while skating...

Yummmmm... if you've never had beavertails before, you must get them on the canal. They're soooo good when you're freezing cold. This one is called a Calilou Sunrise- a beavertail smothered with maple sugar and lemon. You see, skating on the canal, you must pace yourself from station to station, giving you some incentive to skate to the next one without giving up. Poutine on the canal is incredible! (The hot cocoa was quite a disappointment)
